Slatington Farmers Market has officially opened

The Slatington Farmers Market opened its doors on Friday, June 17 with an outpour of support from the community after a hiatus due to Covid and construction. The farmers market previously had a ribbon cutting ceremony on May 8, 2021, but upon opening, restaurant vendors decided they wanted to do full scale commercial kitchens, which took some time due to supply shortages. Fortunately, The Slatington Farmers Market is back and here to stay thanks in large part to member partners Christopher White, Joshua E. Karoly, and John P. (JP) Karoly.

The restaurants are now up and running, so visitors can choose to satisfy their tastebuds from Pizza & Burger Hub’s juicy burgers and a variety of traditional and gourmet pizzas, True Blue Mediterranean Express’ Greek cuisine that includes gyros, falafel, babaganoush, and baklava, and Takkii Ramen’s assortment of traditional Japanese ramen dishes. Within the next month, visitors can also expect to see Uncle Jay’s BBQ, the Waffle Spot by Waffled, Pokë Bowl, and a crepes and salad stand from Sweets & Greens.

Partner Christopher White expressed that the idea for the warehouse space “began out of a need that was identified as our marketplace gained momentum and was flourishing with an uptick in vendor quality” since the Slatington Farmers Market expansion began two and a half years ago.

White stated, “We see ourselves as a destination—where someone can stay for more than three hours, and we see ourselves being able to do that by offering great food, a really nice atmosphere, and good local products.”

The indoor farmers market has something for everyone with its 29 vendors that has been growing daily with the market’s vast open floor plan.

Guests over the age of 21 can even enjoy adult beverages while kids and teens head over to Arcade Shot to play some arcade games. Doan’s Distillery offers craft cocktails, vodka infused “Quakerades,” and $10 Bloody Marys on Sundays. Stone Lake Winery offers a variety of red and white wines and their signature wine hard Italian ices, and while there’s no smoking permitted inside the building, visitors can also grab hand-packed cigars and other tobacco products from Smoke It Up Cigars.

Guests of all ages can enjoy tasty treats from 27 Degrees Ice Cream, Bulb Coffee, which offers hot and iced beverages, special edition drinks like their new campfire latte, as well as delicious cupcakes and pastries from Blondies, and Emersion Nutrition’s smoothies, energy teas/refreshers, protein donuts and other snacks.

Since a farmers’ market wouldn’t be complete without fresh produce, patrons can also enjoy selections from Bleiler’s Produce Patch. Their leafy greens, ripe strawberries and tomatoes, juicy apples, and assortment of produce can be seen right as you walk through the entrance. Whispering Myrtle Farms is also located near the entrance and features their locally grown, hand-picked flowers and bouquets.

Shoppers can purchase a variety of high-quality foods, health and beauty aids, and home goods at low prices from Slatedale Discount Provisions. Tammy’s Custom Designs and Gifts offers gifts and custom printing on just about anything. From coffee mugs and tumblers, to pillows, blankets, t-shirts, hoodies, socks, hats, coasters, keychains, and signs, Tammy can customize whatever you’re looking for. Shoppers can also purchase furniture from Live Edge Custom Furniture or browse through an infinite number of crafts and antiques that are spread throughout the market, which extends into The Slatington Farmers Market’s sister business, The Slatington Marketplace.

Visitors can expect to see events like live music, gun shows, beer and wine festivals, Oktoberfest, and the annual kids’ consignment shop in the coming months. Be sure to check out The Slatington Farmers Market’s Facebook and Instagram for updates on vendors and events. Interested vendors can send them a message on Facebook for more information on joining the market.

The Slatington Farmers Market is located at 8281 PA-873 in Slatington, and is open to the public every Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
