Animals Gone Viral: Felines of New York

Based on the wildly popular Humans of New York blog run by photographer Brandon Stanton, Felines of New York is a parody on the microblogging/social networking site Tumblr that documents “a glimpse into the lives of New York’s feline inhabitants.”

Run by an MTV employee, Jim Tews, it launched a month ago and features portraits of pretty kitties with hilarious imagined quotes from them like, “Sometimes I like to find the most breakable thing on the highest surface, then I like to knock it off.” (Rose of Chinatown) or, “I don’t need anybody. That’s not hyperbole. I literally don’t need you, or anyone. Do not touch me.” (Alex of Harlem)

BuzzFeed picked up FONY early last week which stands to reason it will be spreading itself across social media all this month. You can follow Felines of New York on Instagram @felinesofny or Tumblr. Visit for more peeks inside the villanous minds of New York’s cats.
