Honored for Membership

On April 22, the following individuals were recognized for their continuous membership in the American Legion.  Frank M. Andrews- fifty years,  Lawrence E. George and Fred J. Wehr both have sixty years.  Fred brought his two daughters, a granddaughter, son in law and his friend Josie to share this event.  It is with great pride that Allen O. Delke Post 16 presents these awards signed by our National Commander James E. Koutz as we celebrate this milestone in the lives of our members.

Allen O. Delke Post 16 American Legion Honoring Families of Active Duty Military 

Blue Star Chairman Charles Stopp hosted the April 22nd gathering at Post 16 American Legion to honor the following families of active duty military with a Blue Star banner for their home.  Linda Humanick received two stars for her two sons Brandon and Ronnie in Kuwait.  Cortney Humanick, wife of Ronnie, and Brandon and Ronnie’s Grandmother Ann Davis,  Janice Perry, mother of Paul Keegan,  and Pattie Rauch, mother and of Jesse Mackaravitz, all serving in Kuwait were present to receive one star banners.  Others invited were Michael and Tina Brogan whose son Michael Brogan is serving in Kuwait.  Cathie and Tom Sargent son Corey A. Sargent is serving in Afghanistan.  Also George and Beverly Ritchey from B

akers Summit, PA whose son Jake Ritchey is serving in Kuwait, and is a good friend of the Humanick brothers were invited to come to meet the families with whom their son is serving in Kuwait.

Honoring Our Heroes

            Jesse David Mackaravitz was born September 26, 1991 and graduated from Northern Lehigh High School in June 2010. While in school he joined the Slatedale Fire Department at age sixteen.  At seventeen, Jesse became an active member of the Slatington Fire Department.  He enlisted in the Pennsylvania National Guard in September 2010. At the same time, Jesse started his study at Lehigh County Community College to become a professional pilot which he will complete after his deployment.  Jesse is a member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Slatington.

Specialist J. D. Mackaravitz is serving in the United States Army in Operation Enduring Freedom at Camp Buehring in Kuwait.  His proud parents are Patti and Wayne Rauch of Slatington.  Jesse has a ten year old brother Lucas and Grandparents Brenda and Paul Haas, Betsy and Harold Rauch both of Walnutport.

He loves his car and motorcycle and was able to purchase his latest car online from Kuwait.  His parents made all the arrangements, and it will be ready for him when he arrives home.
